She informed the delegation that the pilot project for the health insurance has been launched from Faisalabad. Giving details of the programme, she informed the delegation that BISP is an independent authority with the President being the Chief Patron and Prime Minister as the Executive Patron. About the BISP's aim, she said BISP is the marshal plan and the flagship programme of the government for women empowerment and poverty alleviation.
Chairperson BISP told the delegation that there is no doubt about the transparency of the programme and there is a proper check and balance system of the utilisation of funds. She said the hallmark of BISP is disbursing hundreds of billions of rupees among the deserving families with complete transparency.
Farzana Raja said more than seven million beneficiary families have been identified through Poverty Score-card Survey for disbursing Rs 1000 per month and billions of rupees have already been disbursed till date amongst poorest of the poor. "Waseela-e-Haq is first ever initiative for provision of interest free loans up to Rs 300,000 to help the recipients set up small businesses", she said. Counselling, monitoring and training for starting the business is provided through Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF). She informed the Chinese delegation that BISP bill had been unanimously passed by the National Assembly and the Senate based on its performance.
